Questions

Belot Modes, Answered

How many players does Belot need?

Four, in two partnerships sitting opposite each other. Against AI you take one seat and bots take the other three; in a friends room you decide who fills which seat.

Which announcements are supported?

All of them. The full bidding ladder is here — a suit contract, No Trump, All Trump, Contre and Recontre — along with the card announcements scored during play.

How is Belot dealt here?

From a 32-card deck, sevens through aces: three cards each, then two, then the bidding, then three more. The same rhythm as a real table, minus the argument over whose turn it is to shuffle.

Do Belot matches against AI count towards my rank?

Yes, when you finish a supported match while signed in. A win adds 20 LP and a loss subtracts 16, with a minimum of zero LP. Guest practice and solo practice do not award profile XP or LP and do not save match results.

Do I need an account to play Belot here?

Not to practise. Press Play now at the top of this page and you sit down as a guest, with a bot partner against two bots; nothing from that game is saved. Playing people, coins and rank need a free account, which takes a minute with email, Google or Facebook.

Does any of it cost money?

No. Every mode is free, and a new account starts with 100,000 coins.

Is this French belote or Bulgarian belot?

Bulgarian belot, with suit, No Trump and All Trump contracts. The game originated in France, where belote is the national card game, so the family resemblance is plain: 32 cards and two partnerships. The bidding, announcements and scoring differ from French classic belote and coinche, though, so read the rules before your first hand.
