Spades Duel · 1v1

2 Player Spades Online, Free 1v1

Play Spades one on one against a bot or a friend, free in your browser. Spades Duel is the classic two-player game: no deal and no partner. You build your own 13 cards from the stock, keeping or discarding as you go, then bid and play 13 tricks with nobody to blame but yourself. When you are ready, queue for a ranked duel.

Can you play Spades with 2 people?

Yes. Spades is usually four players in two partnerships, so a two-player game needs a different deal. In the traditional two-player version, which Spades Duel plays, there is no deal: you take turns drawing from a face-down stock, keeping one card and discarding one each turn, until you both hold 13. Then 13 tricks are played. Traditional 2-player Spades rules

Questions

Spades 1v1, Answered

How does 2 player Spades work here?

Spades Duel plays the traditional two-player rules. There is no deal: you and your opponent take turns at a face-down stock. On your turn you look at the top card and either keep it and discard the next, or discard it and keep the next. When the stock runs out you each hold 13 cards, then you bid and play 13 tricks, one card against one, with spades as trumps.

Is Spades 1v1 the same game as Spades?

It is a separate game here, with its own lobby and its own queue. Spades are trumps, and the tricks and each hand's score work as in the four-player game, but there is no Blind Nil and a game is played to 300 points, not 500. The strategy is different too, because you build your own hand and there is no partner to cover a bad bid.

Do duels against a bot count towards my rank?

Yes, when you finish a supported match while signed in. A win adds 20 LP and a loss subtracts 16, with a minimum of zero LP. Guest practice and solo practice do not award profile XP or LP and do not save match results.

Can I duel a specific friend?

Yes. Open a private duel room and send it to them; nothing starts until you are both at the table.

Do I need an account to duel here?

Not to practise. Press Play now at the top of this page and a duel against a bot starts right away, with no account; nothing from that game is saved. Duels against people, coins and rank need a free account, which takes a minute with email, Google or Facebook.

Does any of it cost money?

No. Every mode is free, and a new account starts with 100,000 coins.
