Spider deals 104 cards across ten columns, and you decide how many suits they come in: one, two or four. Two is the default; Spider Solitaire with 4 suits is the hardest. Your task is to remove eight complete runs, each falling from King to Ace in a single suit, and that eight is the usual explanation for the name: one run for each of a spider's legs. How to play
- A single card may be placed on a card one rank higher, regardless of suit.
- To move several cards together, they must form a descending sequence of the same suit.
- An empty column can hold any movable card or suited run.
- Dealing from the stock adds one card to every column. Fill empty columns first; a new row cannot be dealt while a column is empty.
- Choose 1, 2 or 4 suits in the game menu of a solo game. The deal is always 104 cards: eight full suits made from the suits you choose. Races against bots and players use two suits.
Example
A seven of hearts may sit on an eight of spades, but the two will never travel together as a run. Put that seven on the eight of hearts instead and the pair can move as one.
Playing tip
An empty column is your sorting table: use it to separate mixed suits. And hold off on dealing from the stock until you have tried every useful rearrangement, because the new row lands on every column at once, the tidy ones included.

Frequently asked questions
When does a run leave the board?
The moment it is complete: a King-to-Ace sequence in one suit is removed automatically. Clear eight of them to win.
How is Spider different from Klondike?
Spider builds complete runs on the table itself with two decks, and each finished run leaves the board. Klondike builds four separate suit foundations up from the Aces.
How is Spider Solitaire with 4 suits different?
The rules stay the same, but the 104 cards are two full decks of all four suits, so runs of one suit are much harder to build: a card can still go on any card one rank higher, yet only same-suit cards move together. Four-suit Spider is the hardest level and one suit the easiest. To play it here, open a solo Spider game and choose 4 suits in the game menu.
Do 1-suit, 2-suit and 4-suit wins share a leaderboard?
No. Each number of suits has its own leaderboard and its own recorded runs to race, so a four-suit win is only ranked against other four-suit games.
Is this Spider Solitaire free online?
Yes. Press Play now at the top of this page and a solo game opens right here in your browser, with no download and no account. A free account saves your results and adds races against a bot or another player.
