The highest possible Yacht Dice score is 1,575 points, and reaching it takes thirteen Yachts in thirteen turns, each placed in the best open box. The first scores 50 in the Yacht box; the other twelve each add a 100-point Yacht bonus on top of whatever box they fill. Without any bonus Yachts the ceiling is 375, and in a real game anything over 250 is a strong score.

Highest score without Yacht bonuses

Take the best possible value of every box plus the 35-point bonus, leave out the 100-point bonuses, and you get 375: 140 in the upper section and 235 in the lower. That number lives mostly on paper, though. Filling every box to its maximum takes several Yachts, and under the joker rules those Yachts would collect bonuses too, so 375 is best read as the ceiling of an ordinary scorecard rather than a total you could post without a bonus.

What is a good Yacht Dice score?

  • Computer-perfect play averages about 254 points per game.
  • Most casual games finish somewhere in the 200s.
  • Over 300 usually needs at least one Yacht plus the upper bonus.
  • Without the upper bonus and without a Yacht, scores tend to stay below 200.

A single Yacht is less rare than it feels: chase one from the very first roll and you complete it in about 4.6% of turns.

How to score higher

  • Aim for the upper bonus early. Three of each number is enough, and fours and fives in Fours, Fives and Sixes buy you slack.
  • Treat Chance as your spare tyre: save it for a bad roll late in the game instead of spending it on a mediocre total early.
  • Take a 25-point Full House when it comes; chasing a large straight from a weak start rarely pays.
  • When a zero has to go somewhere late in the game, put it in Aces or the Yacht box, not in the boxes that feed the bonus.
